We report altered structural covariance among olfactory-related brain regions in individuals with olfactory loss, suggesting a reorganization of olfactory networks in response to sensory deprivation. Specifically, we observed reduced connectivity between the amygdala and entorhinal cortex, and enhanced connectivity between the amygdala and orbitofrontal cortex compared to healthy controls. These findings suggest potential neuroplastic adaptation, particularly in higher-order cortical regions, as a possible compensatory mechanism for limited olfactory information in individuals with olfactory loss.
